In Q4 of 2013, several U.S. regulatory agencies like the Federal Reserve Board (FRB) and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) released new guidelines. This did two things that are applicable here. It expanded focus from pre-contract due diligence to include post-contract management, or governance. It also highlighted their specific concerns about the management of outsourcing relationships.

Since 2013, these guidelines have become the de facto standards for compliance and risk management of outsourcing relationships not only in the BFSI sector, but across industries and across the globe.
